Aquadite

December 15, 2023/0 Comments/in Crystal Encyclopedia/by Mary Moses Kinney

Aquadite Chalcedony, which is a rare variety of Chalcedony—a member of the Quartz family. While “Aquadite” isn’t widely recognized in mainstream gemological references, this name may be used to describe a specific type of Chalcedony that has a distinctive appearance or color.

Aquadite Chalcedony:

  • Type: Chalcedony (a cryptocrystalline form of Quartz)
  • Color: Typically, Aquadite Chalcedony is known for its blue, bluish-green, or sometimes even turquoise-like shades, which could be reminiscent of ocean colors. Its translucent, smooth appearance makes it a popular choice for cabochons and beads.
  • Origin: It is found in various locations, but specific sources may not be well-documented, as this is a less common term used for a type of Chalcedony.
  • Structure: As with other Chalcedonies, it is made up of very fine intergrowths of Quartz and other minerals, which give it its smooth texture.

Metaphysical Properties:

  • Calming Energy: Chalcedony, including varieties like Aquadite, is often associated with emotional healing. It is thought to promote peace, calm, and balance.
  • Communication: Like many types of Chalcedony, Aquadite Chalcedony is believed to support clear communication, creativity, and self-expression, especially in groups or social situations.
  • Healing: It is used to soothe the heart and mind, alleviate stress, and reduce negative emotions such as jealousy, anger, or fear. It’s a stone thought to support overall emotional well-being.

Uses:

  • Jewelry: Aquadite Chalcedony is often cut into beads, cabochons, and other decorative forms for use in necklaces, bracelets, and rings.
  • Healing: As a gemstone, it is used in crystal healing to soothe emotional distress, enhance communication, and create a calm environment.
